Mangaluru, June 22, 2023: The Town Hall in Mangaluru witnessed a vibrant mass yoga session on the occasion of International Yoga Day, with enthusiastic participation from yoga practitioners, students, elected representatives, and members of the public.
Organized by the Dakshina Kannada district administration, the Ayush Department, Ayush College, and various organizations, the event emphasized the holistic benefits of yoga.
Deputy Commissioner Darshan H V, addressing the gathering, underscored the importance of integrating yoga into daily life. "Yoga is essential for a healthy life and should not be restricted to a single day. Its practice transcends borders and is embraced globally," he said.
MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta highlighted the cultural significance of yoga, stating, "Yoga is a way of life for Indians. It holds the power to unite humanity."
Yoga guru Gopalakrishna Delampady, accompanied by his disciples, led the participants through a series of asanas and detailed the benefits of each posture. The session followed the Ayush protocol, beginning with a prayer and progressing through neck and trunk movements, standing and sitting asanas, supine postures, pranayama, meditation, and concluding with a peace mantra.
The event was graced by MLC Manjunath Bhandari, Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr. Anandh K, MLAs Dr. Bharath Shetty and Vedavyasa Kamath, District Ayush Officer Dr. Iqbal, and several other dignitaries.
