Mangalore, Sep 14, 2012 : According to reliable sources, Manish Karbekar will replace Seemanth Kumar Singh as the police commissioner for Mangalore.
IGP (western range) Prathap Reddy told reporters that Mr. Karbekar, who is the DIG (civil rights enforcement) in Bangalore, has been transferred, but his transfer to the Mangalore Commissionerate hasn’t been officially confirmed.
Mr. Singh’s transfer was passed when he was sent to Hyderabad for training and he had already removed his name plate before leaving, which shows that he knew about the transfer even before he left.
Reportedly, Mr. Singh is interested in working with the CBI and was visiting Bangalore often. When youngsters in the home stay were attacked in Mangalore, he was in Bangalore on work regarding his transfer. Since his transfer immediately after the attack was inadvisable, it was postponed.
Mr. Singh will get his transfer orders in Hyderabad and will not return to Mangalore as its police commissioner.
