Manipuri student dies at Tannirbhavi beach

Mangalore, Sep 23, 2011 : Sorevung (19), a student from Manipur, died of drowning at Tannirbhavi Beach, where he had gone on a picnic with some of his college friends on September 22 Thursday. The students were staying at a hostel in Mangalore, and their mid-term examinations are scheduled to begin on Friday.
Sorevung was a II B.Sc. student of St. Aloysius College in Mangalore. He was accompanied by his college friends Babish, Patrik, Nagaraj, and Chandan.
He had entered the sea for a swim with some of his friends and was well ahead of them, but was caught by the currents. Although his friends tried to rescue him, they did not success.
The local fishermen started a rescue operation and retrieved his body after 2 hours. The Panambur police have registered a case.
