Mangaluru, December 9, 2025: A youth was stabbed to death with a knife on Sunday late night in Baikampady after a quarrel broke out over refusal to give money for alcohol.
The deceased has been identified as Sachin Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh currently residing in Baikampady. The accused has been identified as Praveen Shivashankarappa, originally from Belagavi district and presently living in a rented house in Baikampady.
Sachin Kumar and Praveen Shivashankarappa lived in neighbouring houses.
On Sunday, Sachin reportedly asked Praveen for money to buy alcohol. Praveen refused and sent him away.
Later that night, after consuming alcohol, Sachin allegedly went to Praveen’s house and abused his parents. Enraged, Praveen is said to have stabbed Sachin in the neck with a knife, killing him on the spot.
Panambur Police Inspector Saleem Abbas and his team visited the spot, conducted an inspection and registered a case.
Accused Arrested Within an Hour
Panambur police arrested the accused within an hour after the murder.
The incident occurred around 11:45 pm, and police received information by 12:00 am. Acting swiftly, Inspector Saleem Abbas and his team gathered information and located the accused at Mangaluru Railway Station, where he had gone in an attempt to escape. The police succeeded in arresting him within an hour of the crime.
