Mangaluru, July 11, 2025: After the crackdown on drug peddlers in the city on July 2, where six persons were arrested by Cyber Economic and Narcotic Crime (CEN) police, the city police have held three more persons — two of Maharashtra and one of Madhya Pradesh — for their alleged involvement in the supply and sale of cannabis.

Arrest

The police stated that Mayaram, 32, from Mohan Padawa village in Barwani district, Madhya Pradesh; Premsingh Ram Pawar, 48, of Chopda in Jalgaon district; and Anil Prakash Koli, 35, of Chopda in Maharashtra, have been arrested. Three mobile phones and ₹1.78 lakh cash were seized from their possession. The three accused were remanded to judicial custody on July 9.

The six peddlers arrested on July 2 were nabbed when they were preparing to sell cannabis in Halady of Padushedde village. The peddlers planned to sell the narcotic substance to over 200 persons in the city, said the police.

The police seized ₹5.2 lakh worth of cannabis packed in small packets weighing a total of 5.759 kg from their possession. The accused allegedly sold each of the small packets for ₹1,000.
