Mangaluru, Nov 4, 2025: A case has been registered at the Mangaluru Cyber Crime Police Station after a man was allegedly cheated of ₹32.06 lakh in an online trading scam that promised high profits.
According to the complaint, on September 9, while the victim was browsing Facebook, he received a friend request from a woman named Kavya Shetty. After accepting the request, he began chatting with her. The woman claimed to be working in trading in Mumbai and convinced him that the business yielded high returns.

Interested by the offer, the complainant agreed to take part in trading. Kavya Shetty then sent him a WhatsApp link and asked him to join through it. Upon clicking the link, a trading application opened, and he entered his name, email ID, and personal details.
He was then asked to invest ₹40,000 to purchase shares. On September 13, he made the payment and received ₹9,504 as profit in his account. Later, after investing ₹2 lakh, he received ₹23,760 as profit. Gaining confidence, he continued investing larger amounts.
Between September 13 and October 24, he transferred a total of ₹32,06,880 to various bank accounts provided by Kavya Shetty. However, after that, he neither received any further profit nor was his investment returned.
Realizing he had been cheated, the victim filed a complaint with the police, who have registered a case and begun investigation.
