Mangaluru : DC inaugurates annual police sports meet

Mangaluru, Jan 8, 2015: The annual sports meet of the DK District Police and Mangaluru City Police was inaugurated at the Police Parade Grounds in the city on January 7, Wednesday by Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim.

The Deputy Commissioner was earlier given a ceremonial guard of honour following which he freed pigeons and released balloons in the air to formally declare the sports meet open. The sports torch was also handed over to the DC.

In his address, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of participating in sports meet to keep oneself physically fit as well as healthy.

As many as seven teams including Mangaluru Rural, Mangaluru Central, Mangaluru North, Mangaluru South, women’s police team and teams from Puttur and Belthangady participated in the event.

A variety of sports like running race, javelin throw, triple jump, high jump, long jump, shot put etc were held.

Dr Sharanappa, District Superintendent of Police, Murugan, City Police Commissioner, Vishnuvardhan, DCP and others were present.
