Mangalore, Jan 29: Mangalore Chess Academy girls Swati Bhat and Panchami Shenoy have secured first places in the Under 10 Girls’ Category and Under 13 Girls’ Category, respectively at the Karnataka State Level Open Rapid Chess Tournament held at Bhadravathi by the MPM Chess Club of Bhadravati.

Herman Dain Saldanha, also from the Mangalore Chess Academy, has secured third place in the Under 16 category in the same tournament. All the three are being coached by Aravinda Shastry, I. M. Shivananda, and Raghavendra.
Simultaneously, Preethi Bhat, also of Mangalore, was recognized as the best woman player of the tournament.
