Mangalore,Dec 28, 2012: Dedication in teaching coupled with technology should be the mantra to take education to higher levels, said Dr HA Ranganath, Director of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore.
He was delivering the keynote address at the two-day national seminar on ‘Quality: The Key Factor in Administrative Reforms in Higher Education’ organised by Besant Women’s College in association with the Association of First Grade College Principals, Mangalore University, at Besant College Auditorium on December 28, Friday.
Dr Ranganath further emphasized the need to embrace technology to improve education in schools. He also stressed on the need for discussions on bringing about reforms in the higher education sector.
Earlier, inaugurating the seminar, Oscar Fernandes, Rajya Sabha Member and Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Human Resource Development, Government of India said the gross enrolment ratio in schools which was 13.4 per cent at present was expected to touch 30 per cent by 2020. This is possible with the effective implementation of Right to Education Act, he said.
Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy, President of Women’s National Education Society, presided over the function. Manjula K T, Principal of Besant College, Manel Annappa Nayak of Women’s NationaL Education Society and others was present.
