Mangalore, Aug 24, 2013: The BWF-Shauchalaya Project aimed at  providing better sanitation facilities to the poor, was launched by District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Forest and Ecology Ramanatha Rai at a function held at Sahodaya Hall, Balmatta on August 24, Saturday. Under the project, the Abu Dhabi based Bearys Welfare Forum will construct  toilets for 52 economically backward families.

In his address, Rai said the society can progress when each and every individual considers it his duty to serve the poor and help in their upliftment. He also handed over the aid to the selected beneficiaries.

Former minister BA Moidin presided over the function. BA Moideen Bava, MLA of Mangalore North Constituency, was present as a chief guest. 

Abdulla Madumole informed that  BWF had constructed 33 toilets for poor families last year, and this year it was extending the facility to 52 families. He said toilets would be constructed at a cost of Rs 15000.

MB Abdul Rahman, former president of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, Mohammad Badruddin, President of  Al-wafa Trust,  Sheikh Bawa, BWF Vice President, Mohammad Rafiq Krishnapura, Co-ordinator and others were present on the occasion.
