Shiva, Mangalore / Dubai  said ‘Sad as this event is, it points to several glaring omissions by both the authorities and the public. If the airport’s hazardous conditions were published years ago why did the government not take any steps to reduce the dangers? Why did not Mangalore Today knowing what they knew pressurize the government or run a campaign to address this issue? Was is just another story to you guys which you forgot about after the next BIG NEWS? The fault lies with all of us who did nothing and perhaps will do nothing even 10 years from now. May the departed souls rest in peace.’

After hearing the news of Mangalore air crash, that claimed 158 persons life, Benedict Noronha, Udupi  said ‘I do appreciate your courage to give so much information in a heart rending situation. In all these years of Mlore history, I think this disaster is the saddest moment for us. I pray to god to give strength to all the family members, the moms who have lost their children, the wives, the grandparents, the fathers, the children who must have been eagerly awaiting the return of their dads with gifts. I still remember how the Mlore airport gets crowded to welcome the family members coming from Dubai. Today instead of joy, happiness and love, they have been given loss, grief and death to cope with.
