Mangalore, Aug 13, 2013: Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo visited the Fisheries Port here on August 13, Tuesday and gathered information on the various problems confronting the port area.
The MLA also held talks with the officials on the possible measures that could be taken to solve the problems. Lobo took serious cognizance of the cleanliness problems arising out of overflowing sewage and drainages that proved a breeding ground for mosquitoes thereby inviting health hazards.
On this occasion, the MLA suggested the officials to take up interlocking of the fisheries road at Bunder and also installation of high-mast lights at necessary points. Wastes should also be disposed satisfactorily, the MLA said.
Various officials including VK Shetty, Managing Director of KFDC, Sujan Rao, Assistant Executive Engineer, Department of Ports and Fisheries, Shantha Kumar, Joint Director, Coastal Belt Protection Board, Ganeshan, MCC Executive Engineer, Ashraf, former mayor, Congress leaders T K Sudhir and others accompanied the MLA during his visit.
