Mangalore, Oct 8, 2010: The mayor of Delta, a province of British Columbia, will visit Mangalore on Oct 11, Tuesday in order to strengthen the newly established relationship between Delta and Mangalore.
Mayor Rajani Dugganna told reporters at a press conference held at the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) on Oct 8, Friday that that MCC and the Corporation of Delta will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate economic cooperation and collaboration between Mangalore and Delta. Mayor of Delta Lois E. Jackson will arrive on Oct 11 with two delegates from the Corporation of Delta and two British Columbia officials to finalize the MoU.
Commissioner of MCC K. N. Vijaya Prakash said that the team from Canada headed by Mayor Jackson will visit the council at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday and interact with the members of the MCC. The team will also interact with media persons, he added.
The Canadian delegation will be welcomed in the traditional Indian way, said Dr. Vijaya Prakash and added that an 8-page brochure on Mangalore heritage sites and development will be published and handed over to the delegation.
Opposition MCC leader Ashok and former Mayor Shankar Bhat were also present.
