Udupi, Oct 21, 2025: In connection with the recent suicide of Abhishek Acharya at a lodge in Belman, Karkala, the deceased’s mobile phone has been sent to the forensic laboratory for detailed examination, said District Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar.
“The investigation team has questioned the accused based on the phone data, bank transactions, and chat records. The digital devices of the accused have also been examined. In addition, friends, relatives, and close associates of the deceased have been interrogated,” the SP said.
“So far, there is no evidence of a honeytrap. No obscene photos or videos were found on the accused woman’s phone, nor is there any indication that she sent such videos to anyone,” he clarified.
“In September, the money transferred by Abhishek to the accused woman was returned to him on the same day. It has been reported that before his death, Abhishek had shared the woman’s obscene videos in a WhatsApp group of his hospital colleagues. Following this, the woman had warned him that she would file a police complaint against him,” the SP informed.
“The videos currently circulating on social media were recorded by a friend of the accused woman and privately sent to her via WhatsApp. However, it is alleged that Abhishek accessed her WhatsApp and viewed those videos,” the SP revealed.
“The investigation is ongoing to determine the reason behind recording the ‘dress-change’ video and whether it was misused. The handwriting in Abhishek’s suicide note is also being verified. The investigation is continuing,” he added.
