After conducting a thorough inspection of the cremation ground, Dr. Vijayaprakash said that instant arrangements will be made to clean the place every month, repair the leaking roof, provide water facilities, and a godown for storing wood. He expressed his regrets that the Nandigudda Rudrabhoomi, which sprawls over an area of 7 acres and is the largest of Mangalore’s 7 cremation grounds, has been denied adequate facilities for the past 35 years. He also revealed plans to construct a facility for people to take shelter from the sun and rain. He said that the civic body has discussed the matter of beautifying the cremation ground with flowering trees and plants with the forest department.

Assistant Executive Engineer Linge Gowda, Assistant Health Officer Chandrahas, and Corporator Vijayalakshmi also formed part of the inspection team.
