Bengaluru: Man kills wife over marital dispute; records video and kills himself

Bengaluru, Mar 2, 2026: A 31-year-old man allegedly killed his wife before dying by suicide at their rented home on the outskirts of Bengaluru, police said on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Deepant Sabar (31) and his wife Manjula Sabar (27).

Preliminary investigations indicate that Deepant allegedly murdered Manjula following a family dispute. Police said he later recorded a video in front of her body and subsequently took his own life. A death note written in Odia was also recovered from his mobile phone.

According to police, the couple was employed at a private company in Bommasandra and had moved into the rented house in Suryanagar village just over two weeks ago.

On the night of February 26, the building owner’s mother grew suspicious after noticing no movement inside the house. Upon checking through a window, she found the woman lying motionless and alerted her son, the landlord.

Police were informed and, after breaking open the door, found Manjula dead on the bed and Deepant hanging in another room. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.

A case has been registered at the Surya City police station, and further investigation is underway.
