Mangalore, Feb 7, 2012: The Mangalore City Corporation’s (MCC) dump yard at Pacchanady in Vamanjoor caught fire at 8:00 p.m. on Feb 6 Monday. The fire fighting personnel are still trying to bring it under control, and the area is already covered with thick clouds of smoke.
The fire was started by MCC workers, who dumped rubbish into the yard and set fire to it in order to make compost. They always do this, but this time, the fire got out of control.
Six fire engines from Pandeshwar and Kadri fire stations are at the spot, but the fire has still not been brought under control because the things that are on fire are made of plastic.
The fire and the smoke that is rapidly spreading over the locality are creating a lot of problems for the local people.
