MCC Commissioner Harish Kumar inaugurates Muller Health Expo 2012

Mangalore, Jan 19, 2012: Harish Kumar, the commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), inaugurated Muller Health Expo 2012 organized by Fr. Muller College of Nursing at Fr. Muller Medical College and Hospital on Jan 19 Thursday. 

In his inaugural address, he spoke of the active role played by doctors in alleviating pain. Warning against the commercialization of the medical profession, he cited the example of a particular hospital in Mangalore, which refused to admit a sick National Youth Festival (NYF) before he paid the bill.

Sharing his experiences as a commissioner, he said that he had quit his job as a college teacher to become the commissioner of the MCC as it gave him a better opportunity to serve society and work for the development of the city. 

Presiding over the event, Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, the director of the college, spoke of the important role played by nurses in the prevention of diseases. 

Rev. Sr. Winnifred D’Souza, the principal, delivered the welcome address; Vasantha G., the convener, proposed the vote of thanks. 

Among the dignitaries on the dais was Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, the administrator of the medical college hospital. 

Students from several nursing colleges participated in this event, which featured a total of 33 stalls displaying models on the prevention of life style disorders, environmental health development, green earth, rain harvesting, and much more.
