Mangaluru, Jan 28, 2024: Writers, artists, and activists are set to initiate a letter campaign, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to include Tulu in Schedule VIII of the Constitution.
Former MLA BA Mohiuddin Bava addressed reporters on Thursday, emphasizing that Tulu, with its distinct script, deserves recognition by being incorporated into Schedule VIII of the Constitution.

Highlighting the global significance of Tulu culture, traditions, and heritage, including bhootaradhane and daivaradhane, Bava noted the notable achievements of Tulu-speaking individuals in various fields. Stressing the need for constitutional recognition, he encouraged people to actively participate in the campaign by sending letters to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister from January 29 to February 2.
Bava suggested that the state government should pass a resolution in the upcoming budget session, and this resolution should be forwarded to the central government.
Dayanand Kattalsar, former chairman of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, mentioned that all the necessary documents for the recognition of Tulu had been submitted to the government long ago.
