Udupi, July 30,2016: As per reports, officials of the Forest Department rescued a four-year-old leopardess from Athrady village near Hiriyadka, Udupi.
Villagers had complained of sighting the animal; they also noticed that many dogs from the area were missing. Finally, the forest officials set up a cage. It is said that the cage had two compartments: one small and the other a big one. A dog was also kept in the cage to attract the big cat.
A forest officer received a call the next day early morning saying that the animal had been caught. A vet examined the animals and declared it fit and healthy and added that it was about four-years-old.
The big cat was later released in the Kuduremukha National Park. The officer added that a few days back they rescued a 15-day-old leopard cub from a shrubby area and it was sent to Pilikula Nisargadhama. All is well that ends well.
