Mangalore, Sep 25, 2012 : JD(S) State President H. D. Kumaraswamy said that possibilities of inducting B. S. Yeddyurappa, former chief minister of Karnataka, into the JD(S) are nil.
Interacting with reporters at a press conference held in Mangalore on Monday, Mr. Kumaraswamy said that his party will never welcome Mr. Yeddyurappa, adding that, if the JD(S) accepts Yeddyurappa, its struggle toward forming a corruption-free state would be meaningless.
When asked why the JD(S) recently accepted former BJP leader B. Nagaraj Shetty, Kumaraswamy replied that the JD(S) accepted Mr. Nagaraj because he accepted his mistakes and approached the JD(S) with a changed heart. He also reminded reporters that Mahendra Kumar, who recently joined the JD(S), had a BJP background, but had not taken part in any communal activities after joining the JD(S).
In response to another reporter’s query, he said that the JD(S) won’t accept Yeddyurappa even if he approaches the party with a changed heart because there is no forgiveness for Yeddy’s sins.
Mr. Kumaraswamy also accused the BJP-led state government of misappropriating central government and public funds and using it for campaigning activities. He also said that the state government is equally responsible for the fuel price hikes, adding that taxes on petroleum products in Karnataka are higher than anywhere else in the country and that Karnataka has highest VAT in India as the state government has increased VAT by 0.5%.
