Mangaluru, Oct 28, 2023: Nalin Kumar Kateel, the President of the Karnataka BJP, has expressed his belief that the ongoing internal conflicts within the Congress party will soon result in the collapse of the Congress-led government in the state.
In response to allegations made by Congress MLA Ravikumar Gowda, who claimed that BJP leaders were attempting to lure lawmakers with offers of Rs 50 crore to switch sides, Kateel pointed out the presence of three distinct factions within the Congress, each led by Siddaramaiah, D K Shivakumar, and Satish Jarkiholi. He suggested that any of these factions might reveal their intentions in the near future, emphasizing that secretive dinner meetings were already taking place and that resort-based political maneuvers could soon emerge. Kateel further asserted that these allegations were a deliberate attempt to divert attention from the internal political issues within the Congress.

Kateel also criticized the Karnataka government’s actions against Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja, accusing the government of engaging in "hate politics" since assuming power. He argued that the government’s decision to file a case against MLA Poonja over an alleged social media post demonstrated a dictatorial and authoritarian attitude.
In response to a question about objectionable language used by the MLA in a social media post directed at the Chief Minister, Kateel highlighted that the Congress had previously initiated a "PayCM" campaign during the BJP’s tenure in the state and that derogatory language had been used by Siddaramaiah against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He implied that if legal action were to be taken against such social media posts, a significant number of Congress members, including Siddaramaiah, would have faced legal consequences by now.
When asked about Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s allegations that the BJP-led central government is neglecting the state by withholding funds for drought relief efforts, Kateel provided a clarification. He explained that funds are allocated in accordance with the reports submitted by the central team, and there are established guidelines for the distribution of grants. Kateel implied that Siddaramaiah’s accusations demonstrate a lack of experience in governance, as he seems to be unaware of these well-defined processes.
