Karkala: 3 injured in blast at explosives manufacturing unit

Karkala, May 08, 2024: Three women workers were injured in a blast in an explosive manufacturing unit at Kaje near Himmunje of Karkala Kasba village on Wednesday.
A woman identified as Sushma (26) has sustained serious injuries in the blast while the other two have sustained minor injuries.
The crackers unit has been functioning in the area since several years. This morning however there was an unexpected blast while the women workers were busy in their work. This unit has three different buildings and one of them has suffered damage and the roofing has been burnt.
The unit is learnt to be a licensed unit. Senior police officials have visited the spot.
