Kannada Book Authority to hold 2-day convention for young writers

Mangalore, August 30: The Bangalore-based Kannada Book Authority will organize a 2-day state-level Youth Writers’ Convention at Town Hall, Mangalore at the end of the September, said Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, the member convener of the Kannada Book Authority. 


He was addressing reporters at a press conference held at the Conference Hall of the DC’s office on Aug 30, Monday. He also told reporters that the event will be held with the purpose of introducing the younger generation to Kannada literature.

Writers aged between 18 and 35 years are eligible to participate in this convention, which invites 2 – 3 writers per district to participate. Participating writers should also have published at least one book and are required to provide personal details, birth certificates, and a copy of their published book to the administrators of the Kannada Book Authority, Kannada Bhavan, JC Road, Bangalore 560002 or to Kalkura Prathistan, MG Road, Kodialbail.


Two hundred young writers are expected to participate in this event; and the organizers will provide accommodation, food, and travel expenses to each participant. A book exhibition and sale will also form part of the event, said Mr. Kalkura. 


Ashok N. Chalavadi, the administrative officer of the Kannada Book Authority, was also present during the press conference.
