Kadri Park to get Rs 5 crore for facelift, assures CM

Mangalore: August 24: All measures will be taken to release Rs 5 crore for the development of Kadri Park in Mangalore at the earliest, said Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Speaking after laying foundation stone to various development works worth Rs 54 crore here on Monday, he said the government is giving priority to the promotion of tourism in the State.

Stating that development is possible only when the elected representatives have a vision, he said all the election manifesto of the party will come true in the next three years. There is lot of scope for the development of Mangalore city, he said and added that there was no shortage of funds for for the development works in the State. “If Mangalore City Corporation utilises Rs 100 crore effectively, then all the roads in the every nook and corner of the City will be asphalted,” he added.



He said ranga mandira will come up at a cost of Rs 13 crore. Synthetic track will come up at a cost of Rs 8 crore in Mangala Stadium. A sum of Rs 2 crore had already been released for the purpose, he added. On the deplorable condition of hostel at KPT, he directed the DC to repair the building without harming the original structure at a cost of Rs 50 lakh.



Mining
Yeddyurappa said that no permits have been given for mining after he came to power. Permits have been given for only value added mining. Mines should be protected for the future generation. After Karnataka banned the export on iron ore, Union government is discussing over the issue.


“We are importing all the finished products. Instead, by banning the export of iron ore, we can produce all the finished products in the state itself,” he said.



Rs 6 cr for quarters
Home Minister Dr V S Acharya said that the police quarters in Mangalore are in deplorable condition.  A sum of Rs 6 crore will be released for upgrading the police quarters. The Mangalore Police Commissionerate office which will come up at the cost of Rs 3 crore will be completed by January 26, he said.



Minister for Youth Service and Sports Goolihatti Shekhar said that synthetic athletic tracks have already been laid at four places in the state. This year, it will be laid in Mangalore, Mysore and Shimoga. The work on synthetic track will be completed within eight months in Mangalore, he said.


Rs 21 cr for UG cable
According to a press release issued Mescom, Mangalore City had only three 33.11 kv sub stations so far. Between 1996-2010, no sub stations were constructed in Mangalore City Corporation limits. In the newly constructed sub station at Kadri, 5MVA capacity two power transformers have been installed. A 33 KV underground cables have been installed in the sub station, at a cost of Rs 3.20 crore.  The work on the proposed sub stations at Kudroli, Attavar and Nandigudde are under progress and will be inaugurated at the earliest. To connect Kankanady, Mannagudde and Maiadn sub stations with 32.5 km long 33 kv underground cable, a sum of Rs 21 crore has been spent.  District-in-Charge Minister Krishna Palemar, MLA Yogish Bhat, DGP Ajay Kumar Singh, Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, IGP (Western Range) Gopal Hosur, SP Dr A S Rao and others were present.


M’lore-Udupi mono rail survey
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa directed the elected representatives to make a preparation for conducting a feasibility survey on mono rail from Mangalore to Udupi. If we get the feasibility report, then the state government will go ahead with the project on PPP mode.
