Udupi, Aug 13, 2013 : State Minister for Urban Development and Udupi District in-charge Minister Vinaykumar Sorake has said that there was a proposal of taking up the second phase KUDCEMP project in Mangalore, Puttur, Udupi and Kundapur with a Rs 450 crore ADB aid.
He was speaking to reporters after participating in the KDP tri-monthly review meeting at the District Administration Complex on August 12, Monday.
The Minister further said steps would be taken to provide better parking facilities in Mangalore and Udupi cities and added there would be pay and park facility at some select places for two and four wheelers.
To a question from scribes, the minister said he would visit various places of Udupi with the officials to have a firsthand information of the parking problems confronting the town.
On the issue of the increasing construction activities in the town, the minister said the next meeting would discuss the issue of bringing about amendments to the CDP. He also informed that Mangalore City Corporation and Udupi CMC have been included under the Capacity Building Project of the Central Government. The main objective of the project is to provide suitable training to the staff of the local administrative bodies so that they can effectively implement various schemes. He said a sum of Rs one crore would be sanctioned for four years under this project,
