Mangalore, Nov 2, 2012: The Karavali Karnataka Janabhivriddhi Vedike (KKJV) staged a street play in front of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) on Nov 2, Friday as part of its “Water – Our Right, Our Life” campaign.
Tharikita Kala Kammata performed this street play, highlighting threats to water security, wastage of water, effects of water shortage, and unequal distribution of water between industry and public.

KKJV Coordinator Vidya Dinker said that citizens are accountable for water misuse as they hardly question authorities. Blaming the MCC for its failure to effectively monitor water supply, she said that the MCC must take concrete action regarding proper water supply, adding that people do not get water because too much water is given to industries such as SEZ, MRPL, and others. She urged the people of Mangalore to fight for their right to water.
The campaign will end on Nov 4, and street plays will be staged all over the city.
Among those present were Olinda Pereira, Jyothi, Hemalatha Bhat, Rohan Sheni, Jyothika Jain, and others.
