Bengaluru, Sep 3, 2026: Karnataka High Court Judge Justice M. Nagaprasanna is reported to have set a record by hearing 534 writ and criminal petitions in a single day.
On Wednesday, Justice Nagaprasanna heard 318 matters that had been listed in advance, in addition to more than 240 petitions seeking urgent hearings. The total number of matters heard during the day stood at 534, reportedly making it a record in the history of High Court proceedings.
During the morning session, the judge completed hearings on all 318 pre-listed matters. Proceedings resumed at 2.30 pm after the lunch break and continued until 8.07 pm.
Of the 534 writ and criminal petitions heard during the day, 85 cases were disposed of.
Justice Nagaprasanna was appointed as a judge of the Karnataka High Court in November 2019 and has since been noted for his high rate of case disposal.
