Jana Jagruthi Samithi to hold protest rally against cattle thefts

Mangalore, Aug 14, 2013: Jana Jagruthi Samiti will organise a protest rally from Jyoti Circle to Deputy Commissioner’s office on August 19, Monday opposing cattle theft cases.

Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on August 14, Wednesday Samiti Convener Kateel Dinesh Pai expressed his concern over rising cases of cattle thefts and also the increasing number of slaughter houses.

He said the Samithi would hold an Andolan for protection of cattle and help people engaged in dairy farming. He also urged the police department to take action against cattle lifters and close down illegal slaughter houses.

Vidyadhara Hegde, President of the Samithi said that on July 30, some cattle thieves entered his cowshed at night and took away his three cows. He said the Samithi would work for the protection of cattle.

Members Jagadeesh Shenava and Sharan Pumpwell were present.
