Jal Jeevan Mission: ZP CEO warns officials against citing rain as excuse for incomplete works

Mangaluru, July 13, 2023: Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr Anand has cautioned officials and has said that rain cannot be an excuse for delay in implementing any project.

Addressing a progress review meet of Jal Jeevan Mission on July 13, Thursday, he said while awarding tenders the time for completion is mentioned after considering all aspects including weather. This being the case there can be no delay on the pretext of rain, the ZPO CEO said.

When officials said rain and land disputes were the reason for the delay in 36 works under Jal Jeevan Mission, the ZO CEO expressed his resentment.

He said it has been targeted to provide tap water connection to 3,34,185 houses under the scheme in ZP limits and that so far connections have been provided to 2,90,583 houses. Connections to 43,602 houses are in implementation stage, he said.

Various officials were present in the meeting.
