Mangalore, Oct 8: Rangha Bharati of Mangalore and Karavali Group of Colleges jointly organized a cultural event called Naadha Nrithyadharaamrutha for the inmates of Mangalore Sub Jail on October 8, Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Karavali Group President S. Ganesh Rao referred to jails as “reformation centres” and urged inmates to put their past behind them and lead useful lives once they completed their terms.
Recalling the time he had spent in jail a few years ago, Mayor Praveen said that jails lacked required facilities when he was an inmate, adding that he will work to provide better facilities. When inmates demanded cable television facilities, he promised that he will provide cable television within a week.
Deputy Mayor Geetha Nayak, Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Association President P. B. Harish Rai, Harikrishna Punarooru, and many others were also present.
