Speaking on the occasion, Shetty said the  party  should be voted to power  in the Mangalore City Corporation to bring the much needed change.

He said the party has fielded 48 candidates for the MCC elections and  hopes  it would be able to win majority. He promised that the JD(S) would ensure a clean administration if voted to power.

Blaming the BJP rule in the city corporation, he said the BJP administration had concretised roads in favour of the builders and not in favour of the public. He also assured that the problems of street side vendors would be solved if the JD(S) was voted to power. He further promised that the JD(S) would see to it that the construction of the second vented dam   would be completed at the earliest.

On the problems facing daily wagers of the MCC, he said  the JD(S) would regularize their services if it was given a chance to rule the MCC.

At the same time, Shetty declared that the JD(S) will not contest the next election if it fails to keep up its promise given to the electorate in case it was voted to power this time.

Sushil Noronha, MG Hegde, Shashiraj, DM Aslam and other party leaders were present.
