Hospital staff and media men quarrel over new-born baby

Mangalore, May 7: Certain reporters had a tiff with a doctor and staff of a nursing home on KS Rao Road over an abandoned new born late in the night of May 6, Thursday.
A reporter of a local news channel visited Jayashree Nursing Home to prepare a report on a new-born baby abandoned on the premises of the hospital. Other media persons were also present on the spot. However, Dr. Jayaprakash allegedly misbehaved with the media persons and verbally abused them. He allegedly requested the staff to carry the baby into the hospital and also snatched the video cameras from the media persons.
The situation was brought under control by SI Manjunath of Mangalore North police station. A complaint regarding the alleged confiscation of cameras and hindering of effective discharge of duty has been filed at the Mangalore North police station.
The incident has been condemned by the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Association. The association has also urged the police department to take immediate action and prevent such incidents from happening again.
