Mangaluru, July 24, 2025: In view of continuous heavy rainfall across the coastal region, a holiday has been declared for anganwadis, primary and high schools, and pre-university colleges in Dakshina Kannada district on Thursday, July 24 — excluding Sullia and Beltangady taluks.
The decision follows a weather alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), warning of heavy rain over the district.
Several areas in Dakshina Kannada experienced intense rainfall on Wednesday, continuing through the night and into Thursday morning, significantly affecting normal life.
Authorities have advised parents to ensure children stay away from low-lying areas, lakes, rivers, and the seashore. Fishermen have been strictly warned against venturing into the sea. Taluk-level officials have been directed to remain at their respective headquarters, while nodal officers appointed by the district administration have been instructed to stay alert and promptly address public grievances.
