Mangaluru, July 19, 2025: In light of continuous rainfall across the district, a holiday has been declared on July 19 for Anganwadis, primary and high schools, and pre-university colleges in Mangaluru taluk. Additionally, holidays have also been announced for Anganwadis, primary and high schools in Ullal and Bantwal taluks, as per the notification issued by the respective Tahsildars.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Dakshina Kannada, forecasting moderate rainfall over the next 24 hours. Heavy rain was recorded in several parts of the district on Friday night and early Saturday morning, severely affecting normal life.
Authorities have advised parents to ensure children stay away from low-lying areas, ponds, riverbanks, and the seashore. Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea.
Taluk-level officials have been instructed to remain present at their respective control offices and manage disaster response without fail. Nodal officers assigned to various regions by the taluk administration must remain alert, respond promptly to public complaints, and stay in constant touch with the district control room.
Tourists and the public have been advised to avoid visiting riversides and coastal areas. All relevant department officials have been directed to set up control centers in each taluk and remain prepared for any emergency.
