Headmistress Chandravathi Rai honored for services rendered

Mangalore, June 14, 2012 : Speaking at a felicitation ceremony held on June 13, Wednesday in honor of Chandravathi Rai, headmistress of Mulladadu Primary School, in recognition of her services, Dr. K. N. Vijay Prakash, chief executive officer of DK ZP, said that Mullakadu Primary School is ample proof that even a government school can have excellent facilities.

Lauding Mrs. Rai, he said that she has successfully utilized donations and government grants to give the school all the required facilities. She could create these changes in the school with the cooperation of teachers, parents, officials, and staff members and as per the suggestions of the School Development Management Committee (SDMC), he said.

Thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Rai, the school has classrooms with floor tiles, a large assembly hall with stage, a reading corner, two computers, posters, and round tables.

Mr. Prakash also said that, in addition to providing facilities, schools must help students develop and grow and inculcate in each student qualities such as self-confidence, determination, and capacity for hard work. He said that schools must also focus on imparting value-based education through schemes such as Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan or Nali Kali so that students grow up to become responsible citizens.
