Golden Peetha-Prabhavali designed by Swarna Jewellers handed over to Sri Kshetra Gurupura

Mangalore, Jan 24, 2012: The golden Peetha-Prabhavali of Lord Sri Varadaraja Venkatramana of Sri Kshetra Gurupura Varadaraja Venkatramana Temple has been renovated. The two feet tall new Peetha –Prabhavali weighing about 2.5kg of gold, has been designed and created by the famous Swarna Jewellers of Udupi. The glittering Peetha-Prabhavali was handed over to Dr GV Shenoy, Chairman of the Temple Management Board, by Gujjadi Ramdas Nayak, Managing Director of Swarna Jwellers on January 24, Tuesday. Along with the above, several other golden pooja materials all weighing about 3.5 kg of gold were handed over to the temple. The Golden Peetha-Prabhavali would be dedicated to Lord Varadaraja Venkatramana by Si Samyameendra Theertha Swamiji, the anointed successor of Sri Sudhindra Theertha Swamiji, the senior Pontiff of Kashi Mutt, during the 60th Punar Pratishta celebrations of the Temple.

Gujjady Ajay Nayak of Mangalore branch of Swarna, G Devaraya Prabhu, G Lakshman Pai, G Suresh Kamath, G Ratnaker Kamath of the Temple Management Board, Ganapathi Bhat, priest, Prasad Pai, Temple Manager, G Hariram Shenoy, G Anandraya Shenoy, G Vinayak Prabhu, G Gokul Prabhu, G Vaman Pai, G Krishnanand Pai, Ganesh Prabhu, G Gajanana Prabhu and G Umesh Prabhu of the Temple Development Committee were among those present on the occasion.

It is significant to note that a golden throne (Swarna Simhaasana) and golden Peetha and Prabhavali had been first dedicated to Lord Sri Varadaraja Venkatramana about 90 years ago itself. A golden Peetha-Prabhavali weighing about 1.25 kg of gold too has been offered to the temple Utsava Murthi Lord Srinivasa in the year 2008. Even the restoration works of the golden throne have been done. The Temple’s Sampushta karadige of nine inch thickness has also been provided a golden covering.
