Mangaluru, Aug. 6, 2026: Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath on Thursday accused the Congress government of misgovernance, alleging that thousands of poor families have lost their BPL cards and social welfare benefits under its administration.

He was speaking at the executive committee meeting of the BJP Mangaluru South Mandal, held at the Dakshina Kannada District BJP office under the chairmanship of Mandal President Ramesh Kandettu.

Addressing party leaders and workers, Kamath alleged that the Congress government’s administration in the state had "crossed all limits." He claimed that thousands of BPL cards had been cancelled in Dakshina Kannada district alone, depriving poor families of essential benefits.

He further alleged that pension schemes, including old-age, widow, and disability pensions, had been suspended. Kamath also claimed that patients at Wenlock Hospital were unable to get ICU beds and accused the government of filing false cases against BJP MLAs.

Referring to recent political developments, he alleged that Congress workers had insulted the Hindu religion in the name of protests within the Parliament premises. "The time is nearing for people to give a fitting reply to all these actions," he said.

Among those present at the meeting were Mandal General Secretaries Ramesh Hegde and Lallesh Kumar, District Vice-President Tilak Raj Krishnapura, District General Secretary Premananda Shetty, District Secretaries Poornima and Sujith Pratap, District Treasurer Sanjay Prabhu, BJP leader Ganesh Hosabettu, office-bearers of the Mandal, former corporators, representatives of various BJP morchas, and presidents and key functionaries of Mahashakti Kendras and Shakti Kendras.
