Fayaz’s murderers sentenced to life imprisonment

Mangalore, Feb 7, 2012: The second additional district and sessions court in Mangalore has sentenced two persons namely, Faizal and Mustafa to life imprisonment for murdering Fayaz of Bajal and discarding his body near a railway goods shed in June 2009.

 

Faiz murder - verdict

 

Judge G. D. Narasimha Murthy, in his verdict delivered on Feb 6 Monday, sentenced the duo to life imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs. 5000 on the accused, adding that they would have to undergo six more years in prison if they fail to pay the fine. 


Fiaz

Fayaz was murdered on the night of June 2, 2009 allegedly by Faizal of Maindale Navoor in Bantwal and Mustafa alias Rauf alias Sharif of Hosagadde Perne in Puttur. The victim and his murderers were employed at Bunder old port. 


Faizal and Mustafa used to steal steel goods from the railways and were caught by the railway police and sentenced to 6 months in prison for the offence. The duo suspected the Fayaz had complained to the police about their activities, owing to which they murdered Fayaz after first luring him near the railway goods shed.

The Bunder police had registered a case against the two and Inspector Tilakchandra had filed a charge sheet. C. Venkataramana Swamy, the second additional public prosecutor, was the prosecution lawyer.
