Easter Sunday celebrated with gaiety

Mangalore, Mar 31, 2013: Today is Easter Sunday.The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is being celebrated with gaiety by the faithful across the city. Easter Vigil Mass was also held at various churches.

The Mass was attended by thousands of devotees in the churches of their respective parishes. Candles were also lit signifying the victory over the evil and indicating the path towards enlightenment. There was also chanting of psalms and scriptures in the churches.

On the Holy Saturday on March 30, Easter Vigil Service was also held across churches waiting for the resurrection of Jesus.

As part of the candlelight ceremonies, the Pascal candle and fire and holy water were blessed.

The Holy Week which commenced with the Palm Sunday, has culminated with the Easter Sunday after Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

" And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith" I Cor 15:17. JESUS CHRIST is unique in His virgin birth and resurrection. When He appeared for the first time in front of His confused disciples after the resurrection, His first statement was " Peace be with you". In His presence we can have the same peace in troubled times. Happy easter to you all. May His peace reign in your hearts.
