Mangalore, Sep 26: Dr. Rathidevi was felicitated during a special felicitation programme held at Town Hall on September 26, Sunday, in recognition of her service as a medical writer and gynecologist.
Recipient of the Vaidya Rathna Award Dr. Rathidevi said that the rise in the number of cesarean deliveries is because of modernization, innovative examination methods, and globalization. Urging pregnant women to trust their gynecologists, she said that they should cooperate with the doctors during the time of delivery.
The felicitation ceremony was launched by Muzrai Minister Krishna J. Palemar; and the felicitation volume “Meru” was released by MLA Yogish Bhat. Palemar said that he will recommend Dr. Rathidevi for the Rajyothsava Award; and MLA Yogish Bhat lauded her service and contributions to society.
H. S. Ballal, the pro vice chancellor of KMC, released “Sahaja Herige Mattu Cesarean Herige,” written by the doctor and printed in her own handwriting. The doctor’s poems were also sung on the occasion.
Harikrishna Punaroor, Mayor Rajani Dugganna, and Pradeep Kumar Kalkura were some of the dignitaries present.
