Mangalore, Jan4,2013: Ananthakrishna, non-executive Chairman of Karnataka Bank, has urged mathematics students not to get addicted to calculators, but instead use their analytical skills.
He was speaking after inaugurating a three-day long National Seminar on “Graph Theory and its Applications" at Eric Mathias Hall, St Aloysius College here on January 3. The seminar has been jointly organised by the Department of Mathematics of St Aloysius College in association with Forum of Mathematics Teachers Mangalore University.
Ananthakrishna further said mathematics was an analytical subject which enhanced the reasoning ability of the students.
Fr Swebert D’Silva, Principal of St Aloysius College, presided over the function. E Sampathkumar, Professor Emeritus of Mysore Universit y and a Graph Theory expert, delivered the key-note address.
