District police arrest Bannaje Raja associate

Mangalore, Nov 28, 2011 : The district police have arrested a person alleged to be associated with notorious underworld don Bannaje Raja.

Reportedly, the Special Task Force police in Uttar Pradesh had arrested him in Sakalpur, Varanasi, following which he was handed over to the DK district police on Nov 27 Sunday.

The arrested is Nitesh alias Anshu Singh (20), who stands accused of involvement in a recent shoot-out case near Kadri Park.

It may be recalled that certain miscreants on motor bikes had fired at Suresh Bhandary, a builder, near Kadri Park on the evening of May 26. Bhandary was in a car with his wife and daughter. After the shoot-out, the miscreants had fled, and the police had rounded up and arrested Devadas Shetty, Manish Kumar alias Rahul, Neeraj Shrivastav, Ali Hussain, Amit Chaurasia, Vinod Kulal, Puttaswamy, Rehaj Khan, and Mohammed Javed Khan, all of who are now in judicial custody. So far, Nitesh had managed to escape

The accused have revealed during interrogation that they are involved in many similar cases throughout the state. The police also intend to interrogate Nitesh extensively to collect complete information regarding his gang and their operation.
