Mangalore, Oct 10, 2012 : Health Officer Dr. O. R. Srirangappa said that a meeting held at the DC’s office on Oct 9 that the district administration has conducted a survey in areas where Endosulphan was heavily used and has identified 92 affecting villages.
The survey helped the district administration identify 77 revenue villages in Belthangady, Sullia, Puttur, and Bantwal, coming under 23 primary health centres and 78 sub centres.
Further, he said that the district administration has appointed taluk-level committees, and starting Oct 10, the tahsildar, the taluk health officers, the CDPO, the representatives of Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, the members of the taluk-level committees will conduct a survey and will submit their report to the DC.
Each surveyor will receive a list of 1000 people and will cover 250 – 300 houses per day. Oct 23 is the deadline to submit the report to the DC.
