District Youth Congress launches ’Vidya Sahaya Hastha’ campaign to create awareness on RTE Act

Mangalore, Jan 27, 2014: In order to create awareness on Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act implemented by Central Government, the District Youth Congress has launched ’Vidya Sahaya Hastha,’ campaign with an aim to reach the children, said Mithun Rai, president, District Youth Congress.


Speaking at the press meet held at District Congress Office on Jan 27, Monday, he said that the District Youth Congress has launched the campaign today and will continue till February 8.

He also said that a total of 37,000 seats in district are vacant due to various reasons, while a total of 1994 seats are vacant in 160 schools.


Mithun said that as a part of campaign, the congress activists will create awareness on RTE Act, provide information and help people in filling the application. Apart from it, the activists will also collect information from the schools where seats are lying vacant. The party has launched helpline and people can get information by contacting 9886540999, 9845655262.


Youth leaders Nemiraj Shetty, Srihari, Meryll Rego, Girish Alva were present at the press meet.
