District In-charge Minister inaugurates District Level Special Olympics 2013

Mangalore, Dec 9, 2013: District administration jointly with Zilla Panchayat, Youth Welfare and sports department, Sports and Cultural Academy for Differently abled and Sanidhya organized a District Level Special Olympics 2013 at Mangala Stadium on December 9, Monday.

Koragappa Naik, president of Zilla Panchayat hoisted the sports flag.

 

 

 

District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai inaugurated the sports meet by releasing the balloons in the air and holding sports torch handed over by the athletes.

Speaking on the occasion, Rai appreciated the effort of district administration who has organized the sports meet for the differently abled students. It is a difficult task to organizing sports meets for the differently abled and spending time with the special children is a happy moment.

He also said that changes can be brought into the life of special children by making them mentally and physically strong and encourage them in the extracurricular activities and sports.

Specially abled children have brought laurels to our country in the Special Olympics. Further they must be encouraged to compete in various competitions, he said.

Lilly Pais, assistant officer of Youth Welfare and Sports Department, Vasanth Kumar Shetty, administrator of Sanidhya School and Mahabala Marla, president of Sports and Cultural Academy for Differently abled were also present.

Students from various institutions presented a colourful March past.
