Direct weekly train from Mangalore to Tirupathi

Mangalore, march 2, 2012 : The railway department has launched a new direct weekly train service from Mangalore to popular pilgrim centres Tirumala and Tirupathi.


train 2The train will leave Mangalore at 10:45p.m. on Saturdays and will pass through Kasargod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Shoranur, Coimbator, Erode, Katpady, and Chittoor, before reaching Tirupathi at 2:35 p.m. on Sundays. The train will run up to Satragath Junction, Madhya Pradesh, passing through Odisha.

The train will start its return journey to Mangalore from Satragath at 4:05 p.m. on Thursdays and will reach Tirupathi at 5:10 p.m. on Fridays. It will then reach Mangalore at 9:45 a.m. on Saturdays.

R. L. Dias, the president of the Railway Yatri Sangh, said that Mangalore has been directly connected to Tirupathi for the first time, making it easier for pilgrims from Uttara Kannada and Udupi.
