Belthangady, July 31, 2025: On the third day of the search operation in connection with a previously reported criminal case under the Dharmasthala Police Station limits, some skeletal remains are said to have been found. However, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has not yet confirmed this information.
Reports indicate that fragments of bones were recovered while digging at the sixth site near the Nethravathi bathing ghat, identified by the complainant. No official statement has been released by the SIT officers regarding this finding.
The SIT began excavation around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the sixth site along the Nethravathi River, one of the 13 locations identified by the complainant. In the past two days, excavations at five sites did not yield any human remains. However, during Thursday’s operation at the sixth location, skeletal remains were reportedly discovered.
The operation is being carried out by SIT officials, along with Puttur Sub-Divisional Officer Stella Varghese, Belthangady Tahsildar Prithvi Sanikam, a team of doctors from KMC Mangaluru, FSL experts, ISD personnel, and other officials.
