Death of Dharmasthala woman in Punjab: Accused professor taken into Custody

New Delhi, May 20, 2025: In a tragic incident, Akanksha S. Nair (22), an aerospace engineer from Boliyaar, Dharmasthala, and daughter of Surendra Nair and Sindhu Devi, allegedly died by suicide in Delhi, where she was employed.

In connection with the case, Delhi police arrested Bijil C. Mathew, a professor hailing from Kerala, on the night of May 19. He is currently being interrogated in relation to the incident.


Akanksha


Following her death, Akanksha’s post-mortem was conducted on May 19 afternoon, and her body was handed over to her family by Delhi Civil Government Hospital later that evening.

The body was transported to the Delhi airport by ambulance at around 2 a.m. The company where Akanksha was employed arranged for a free flight to Bengaluru as a gesture of support.

Accordingly, her body was scheduled to arrive at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru at 11 p.m. on May 20 via a SpiceJet flight departing Delhi at 8 p.m.

From there, her remains are being brought to her hometown in Boliyaar, Dharmasthala, by ambulance, and the final rites will be performed on the morning of May 21.
