DK bids fond farewell to V. Ponnuraj, welcomes Subhodh Yadav

Mangalore, October 26: The DK district administration organized a farewell programme for former DC V. Ponnuraj and a welcome programme for the new DC Subhodh Yadav at the conference hall of the DC’s office on Oct 26, Tuesday. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Additional Commissioner Prabhakar Sharma delivered the welcome address, in which he spoke about his experiences with former DC V. Ponnuraj. Stating that Ponnuraj worked on the district’s problems as if they were his own, he said that the former DC had a lot of work in DK because of the large number of problems around.

MCC Commissioner Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash said that V. Ponnuraj has fulfilled the dream of widening Car Street by successfully convincing its residents to part with their land.

Expressing his satisfaction at what he had done for the city, former DC V. Ponnuraj said that he could launch development programmes only because of public support. Remembering SP Dr. A. Subramanyeshwar Rao and former IGP Gopal Hosur, he said that his stay in Mangalore was delightful.

Subhodh Yadav, the current DC of DK, said that the words spoken in praise of former DC V. Ponnuraj have increased his responsibilities.

Former DC V. Ponnuraj was felicitated with a shawl, a garland, and a memento of an elephant, which symbolizes his strength. A number of prominent personalities such as Mohandas Prabhu, the president of Kanara Chambers of Commerce; Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, the president of Kannada Sahithya Parishath; Balakrishna, the superintendent engineer of PWD; and others spoke on the occasion.

Shivashankar, the CEO of Zilla Panchayath, presided over the function.

P. Hemalatha, the DC of Udupi district; DCP R. Ramesh; Additional Superintendent of Prabhakar; Vijayakumar, the forest officer, were the dignitaries on the dais.
